Great news for a friend

My college roommate just posted a picture on her Facebook. It is of her and her boyfriend holding wine glasses and smiling and the caption said that they were at one of their favorite wineries. Okay, cool. But when I took a closer look at the photo, I noticed what looked like a diamond ring on the 4th finger of her left hand.
I immediately texted her and asked "is that an engagement ring?!?!?!" She replied "why yes it is!" I'm so happy for her. They just got engaged today after dating for over a year. She is 40 like I am and has been through so many horrible boyfriends. I'm so happy that she has finally found a good guy that she has such great times with.
I didn't post anything publicly on her FB because she didn't say anything on there yet. I just kept my comments confined to our text messages for now. I'm so excited for her though!

Thats awesome, although to me people should be together at least 2 years before getting engaged. But to each their own

@Courtlynn well it is right for them. They are a lot older than you are and more established in their lives. It is good for them. They don't need to wait, and, like I said, especially if she wants to have a baby. I don't know if that is what she wants, but if it is, then they need to get going on it pronto.

No these two are very well suited. Plus they are older so they know what they want out of life, are established in jobs, etc. I am surprised that they didn't get engaged sooner! She may want to have a baby for all I know and 41 or 42 is a tough age to start though she is very healthy and fit. Who knows?
