“What do you think it's like to milk a cow?”

Honestly, I never tried to milk a cow. I had this weird imagination on how to do it. On the other hand, I was quite laughing when thinking about how Greg Focker described milking a cat in the movie ”Meet the Parents” in 2000. It is one of the funniest movies that I had watched. “Do you still remember the movie?” It was portrayed by Ben Stiller. The movie lines made me so crazy. Regardless, I think it is possible to milk animals and stored them to a milk bank. “Do you think it is with the sense to do have milk bank for animals?” “Did you try to milk a cow?” Image Credit: pixabay.com

I've tried milking cows when i was little. We had a few back then. And one of them was named after me. That's an experience i wont ever forget.

It has to be done in the cowshed so the cow can be tied properly. The leg on your side needs to be tied too so you won't get kicked. Then milk! The squeezing part can be tricky though. The cow will keep on moving if you're doing it wrong. My sister always had a hard time getting the milk out and it wasn't always fun for me too.

@MGjhaud It seems stressful of milking a cow. I can do it once and that would be a good experience for the first timer.

Wow! I am jealous that you had experienced it. Are there any preparations of doing it?

Just take a finger and squeeze it and imagine that milk is coming out. I liked that movie too!

@Shavkat I only milked a cow when I was a kid and so my memory may not be that clear. I think that you have to make sure that your hands are warm, pull a bit and squeeze a bit. Of course I may not have done it right but I did manage to get my milk and so I must have done something right.

I milked a cow when I was a teenager, my grandfather showed me how to do, but this is not something I really liked. I do not know what the cow thought.

I do agree on that. It wasn't common in the city and even in the provinces. I hope I can try it, too.

I have never milked a cow, but when I was a kid, we lived in a town where some neighbors had cows, and we could buy milk from them.. My grandparents had cows, so my dad used to be shepherd when he was a kid..

When I was young, bottled cow's delivered in the house. I was so curious on how it was being done.

Never tried, but seems perfectly natural for food. Would love a cow, except they fart to much and take up a lot of space, not to mention need a lot of food. Fresh milk would be awesome. Milking seems pretty straight forward and do not think I would be bothered one bit about touching or squeezing their nipples.

That's a picture perfect description. I think it is nice to have a fresh cow's milk. Out of curiosity, I can deal with touching the mammary ducts.lol

One should ask a cow what it feels when a beginner tries to milk it. When I was a child, I tried to milk my grandparents' goat. It didn't appreciate this at all and ran away.

I think it is difficult to build a rapport to a cow. You are right that a cow should be familiar with us to refrain from having resistance. If ever I will try it. I might freak out, too.

In Germany, cows aren't milked by hand anymore. Machines do the job.

no, because first, we do not have a cow; second, i take skimmed milk only so i don't know what cow should i milk to yield a skimmed milk. hahahaha!

I have no idea about the milk banks for animals But in my village, we have a few cows and they don't let strangers milk them. Only a very familiar person to them can do that So never tried that LOL

Wow! I never thought of that. I haven't seen any milk banks for animals. I was thinking what if the mother animal will die and where they can get the milk, right? I guess I cannot even try to milk a cow in your place then.lol
