Movie Review - The Beast of Hollow Mountain

1956 - spoiler alerts A real turkey of a science fiction Western, the first of a spate of cowboy V dinosaur features (The Valley Of Gwangi being much better). The film was given the Mystery Science Theatre treatment in 2017. An American cowboy helps a small Mexican community handle the monster haunting the swamps around the Hollow Mountain of the title. The area is full of quicksands which seem to be more dangerous than the Allosaurus that somehow survives on in the area. We actually see very little of the monster (created by King Kong creator Willis O'Brien) as much of the film deals with the drunken high-jinks of a local stereotypical Mexican family leader (eventually eaten by the dinosaur). The hero eventually successfully lures the monster to its death in the quicksands, a moment viewers must have guessed was coming from the opening scenes. Laughably inept throughout. We never find out which mountain if any is even hollow.

This looks like a perfect story, the beast eats the rude Mexican family leader and then it's killed by the hero. Goodness I think it's a B series movie.
