Happy 3rd of July! It's not a holiday, but it's really had that "holiday" feeling here. I'm sure a lot of places took today off as well as tomorrow, sort of like that "day-after-Thanksgiving" thing. Enjoy the long weekend if you get one, and stay safe! Yes, hand replacement surgery was pioneered here in Louisville, but why have to get one because you did something with a firecracker? So from that I'll move to my second-favorite song on the list of songs with a number in the title. Thanks to @teamfreak16 for the idea! #2: Two Angels - Peter Case Now this is how it should be: the number and the position match! Holy cow, do I love this song. Peter Case is one of the greatest songwriters you've never heard of. You may have heard him if you saw the movie Valley Girl (the Plimsouls' "A Million Miles Away" [which did not make my countdown, sorry] was in that film). Marshall Crenshaw covered "Steel Strings." I got to see and meet him a couple of years ago. It was a simply spectacular show, just Peter and a guitar. He mercifully did not do this song, or I'd probably still be crying. It's not that it's a sad song, but there's just something about seeing a favorite singer do a favorite song. (He did do "Entella Hotel," another favorite of mine, and I had tears streaming down my face all song long.) This isn't all that complicated, but dang it's beautiful. A Million Miles Away is an absolute 80s new wave classic. Great songwriter.

Peter Case is awesome. Unrelated, but you will appreciate this. On my walk back from the liquor store this morning, I came across a girl wearing a Boz Scaggs tour shirt!

I definitely appreciate that! (And no, it wasn't me, I'm hunkered down while a World War II battle reenactment goes on outside with the fireworks. Oy. But hey, Dale Watson is playing in Colorado next month.....)
