Because cacao would be extremely in demand by the year 2020 and there will be shortage of cacao in the market so our government is concentrating to cacao tree planting in our region. Cacao is the main ingredient for chocolate. No cacao beans mean no more chocolate. There may be substitute for coffee but there is no substitute for ingredients for chocolates. To avoid the scarcity of chocolates by 2020, we are planting lots of cacao seedlings to produce 1 million of kilos of cacao beans in our region alone. How's that?

Yes, usually the local government units find some idle lands or identify the location where the seedling should be planted. Also the LGU should allot funds to acquire seedlings and distribute it to the people in the barangay.

@HeartBM the problem with mangoes is that we are already over supply of its fruits, and its seasonal. I've heard cacao flowers and have fruits most of the time of the year.

when our cacao tree was bearing fruits, we would suck the seeds and these sucked-up seeds will be exposed to the sun.

It is good that you are planting cacao trees; every region where it grows well should do the same to meet local demands.

Cacao planting is good. I have cacao plant in my yard and have harvested the fruits for my own consumption. I have made my own chocolate a few months ago when I was in the Philippines.
