South East Asians look very much like each other

Filipinos (me), Indonesians, Malaysians and Thais all look like each other. We have a meeting with some Thai expats and I mistook them as one of us! This might explain why we are comfortable talking with each other. Well, we have a Malayan blood after all. We are brothers!

I honestly cannot say, I do not know Indonesians, Malaysians and Thais. There is a large Filipinos community in my native city in Italy.

Once I actually passed an Indonesian for a Filipino. He is an expat from our supplier and I first thought he is one of the locals. And based from what I heard, South Easter Asians had a common race like Malayan.

I visited Indonesia last May and I do like them very much. They are very welcoming people. I felt like I did not leave Philippines after all. They are so friendly and helpful. Because of them, I would like to visit Indonesia again.

I somehow can tell the difference between Malaysians and Thais or Filipinos, but it can be tricky to tell Malaysians and Indonesians apart

Had never thought about that before myself. What about the languages bit though surely they are different in some way?

The language is very much different as the nationalities are different. As a Filipino there are also words in our language that came from Spain; Kumusta, kutsilyo and sumbrero are some of the words borrowed from Spain. Yet some of our words also resembled Indonesian terminology; anak, panday, silat, lalaki, kris are some of those words.

@Mamerto32 Thought it might well be but I never met anyone from there ever. I have never heard them speak in their own language so its difficult for me to know about them but now I do thank you for clearing that up for me.

There is a lot of similarities between South Eastern Asian, from skin color to facial features. Most of the South Eastern Asians are from Malay race, even Filipinos. Eventually it is just the language and nationalities that are different.
