The melodrama shows my sister and mother are watching are driving me nuts!

As a man who needs a lot of positive reinforcement at work, the melodrama shows doesn't offer any help. I mean their negativity could demotivate an energized worker and I have to leave the room when my folks are watching it. Thank goodness for earphones and smartphones, for I could detach myself from all of those mess.

I understand you. I also dislike listening to news but my mom loves listening on it. I am tired hearing about dirty politics, and killings here and there. I prefer reading good books or writing something to enhance my skills.

Same here, I prefer books over dirty TV shows. For me a good combination of fantasy novel, PSP games, nat geo/discovery shows and anime will chase those stresses away.

@Mamerto32 Wow! You are an anime lover too. Same here. Some people thinks that it is weird for older people to love anime but not me. I am fond of watching it even I am already on my 30's.

@annierose It's okay, we have guys in my office that still watches anime even though they are in mid 30's. They often say that it is better than seeing folks cry on screen

I'm usually pretty good at zoning out, but it always helps to have your own space to escape the negativity.

@Mamerto32 Oh I'd rather bury myself in books than watching stuff like that

Ohh every house problem, I hate watching those shows. I just sit in my room and won't go to living room when TV is on

I often say to my mom that I planned to live under a rock rather than watch those gloomy stuffs. Life is hard enough, why make it harder by watching people cry.

I just wish our local network will reduce their melodrama.

@amadeo agree. Until they come to their senses I think I will stick to my smart phone and earphone and come up with a man-cave
