Are you prepared in the event of a long term survival situation?

Survivalists have gotten more and more prevalent in today's sort of tense and dangerous world. Would you be prepared should a disaster strike your home and you would have to survive for months or even years? I know I wouldn't be..I think I could survive a short term power outtage of up to a week,,,but long term survival..that would be a problem. What about you? What is the longest you have had to go without sevices?

When we lived in the car is the longest without services but still had the car...about 3 months that was. As far as long term survival..not prepared at all. But I do what I can for short term.. No food supply here..cant get to afford it point. I try to stay fit though in case of having to walk far.

I really think a generator would be one of the best things to have should you have to survive a long term situation. You would need a power source.

I wouldn't survive more than a day without power. As I like cold drinks, and hot meals.

I think you would find you do what you have to do. I am sure being near the coast you have probably lost power before. We all like hot meals and cold drinks..

I think about..We are kind of lucky here in that my roomie has a medical condition that requires oxygen so we are a priority case when it comes to receiving electrical services.

Years ago we lost power for five days when the kids were little, but had the use of my father's house, the university, and the home of a friend. Having a well that needed power to work was no fun. Now we have a generator and gas rangetop.
