My Neighbor is a Creep

The man next door is turning into a real creeper. Earlier this evening my boyfriend and I were down in the parking lot attempting to jump the battery in his older car (which he doesn't want to just leave sitting and rotting since he's gotten a newer car) before heading to the grocery store. I was unaware anyone else was in the parking lot with us. The sun had already gone down and it was dark. I didn't hear anyone so I assumed we were alone. After we had been down there about 10 minutes (the battery wouldn't charge), a teenage girl I'd never seen before opened a window from the neighbor's apartment upstairs and looked out at us. At first I thought we had yet another snoop in our midst, but she called out "Dad, are you okay? You've been out there a long time!" Then, out of nowhere I heard his voice call back "Yeah, I'm fine." He had been sitting out in his truck doing nothing the entire time we were out there. Probably just sitting and staring like he does from the balcony. We were both creeped out by the fact that that man was sitting out there, just lurking in the shadows, watching us and not saying anything (or offering to help us jump the car, even.) I don't know what's wrong with him, but I liked it a lot better when he wasn't around. He gives me the willies.

Let's hope he keeps his willie to himself.

Bwahahahaha! Yes, let's. The thought did cross my mind that perhaps he may have been playing with ol' willie in the dark.

We think he stole the registration tags off my boyfriend's car, as tonight we discovered they are missing. And he was lurking around out there...

We have a neighbor who is like that too. Caught him sneaking around the border of our yards and he was trying to look in our windows. That was when we first moved in and were doing major renovations to the living room. Curiosity got the best of him. He often sits in his car when he gets home and leaves it running while listening to the radio. Drives by our house to see what we are doing in our yard. The road that is near to the main road is closer the other way. Weirdo.

Some people are busybodies I guess. I wouldn't dream of trying to peep in my neighbors' windows. Not intentionally, anyway. Some people have too much time on their hands and are just plain weird.

@ElusiveButterfly Haha, good thinking. At least maybe it would give him second thoughts before peeping in your windows again.

Especially since he is usually either sitting on the balcony staring at people, or sticking his head out the living room window and watching us when we're outside. I guess he must not have anything better to do.

When we lived in flats there were quite a few people like that also. I never got to figure out what could be wrong with them either.

@Srbageldog Yes its creepy to have someone watch you like that I know what it feels like. In particular I had one next door to me The thing is she needed treatment and they paid no attention to her.

Some people have too much time on their hands I guess. I know I have better things to do than sit and stare at the neighbors (or lurk in the dark watching the neighbors) all day.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I wonder if this guy needs psychological treatment. I hope he's not dangerous. He came over once screaming at my boyfriend so he scares me.

It definitely was unnerving. Especially since he sits on the balcony staring at us the rest of the time. Now he's even lurking in the parking lot in the dark...

I'm sorry you have to deal with this creepy behavior too. And it seems like my neighbor really was up to no good, as someone has stolen the registration tags from my boyfriend's car. We think it was him, since he was out there acting suspiciously last night.

If he's as creepy as you say he is, I'd be more worried about the health and safety of his teenage daughter.

I didn't even know he had a teenage daughter until that night when she stuck her head out the window and hollered down at him (and she called him "Dad" which is how I know she's his daughter.) I had never seen her before that. I just knew he and his wife have two toddlers, and I do worry about their welfare. Somebody over there (I think it's their weirdo aunt) screams and cusses at them all day when she is left in charge of them. Surprisingly the toddlers don't make as much ruckus when the dad is there. (Maybe they are scared of him.)

@moffittjc I feel sorry for them too. I keep an ear out for anything that would warrant a call to child protective services. I'm not sure they'd do anything about an aunt screaming and cussing at them, or if verbal abuse is even really investigated.

@Srbageldog Let's just hope that there is not sort of abuse going on in that household. I feel sorry for those kids.

He sounds creepy, or he may have a mental problem.

I have wondered that as well. Maybe he is depressed or something, or could be on medication that turns him into a "zombie."

I have a neighbor across the street who does the same thing. In his case, I think he is just a noisy guy. How weird is that to just sit there in your car doing nothing for an extended period of time?

Right? I could understand if he was sitting out there with a passenger, like they were out there talking before coming in or something...but to just sit there doing nothing (especially in the dark) is just weird. I don't get people who just sit around staring at other people. I think they are just being nosy too.

@Srbageldog Yes, true. My neighbor always looks like he is deep in thought when he is sitting in his car. Having met him, he is not a deep thinker, ha, ha.
