The 5th of July had a real birthday gift for my sister this year. Our Mom. Last year our Mom was in hospital on my sisters Birthday and very ill, we thought she was not going to make it through another year with us.
And this time, on the 5th, our Mom was home and able to enjoy a nice meal with us and talk and laugh and well, celebrate. She might still be on an oxygen machine, but she is with us.
My sis and I made chocolate brownies for a dessert and they were a hit. Not only did I put chocolate frosting on them, I even added a layer of caramel. It was a very sweet ending to a blessed day.
Material gifts are lovely, but there is nothing like a real birthday gift, the presence of a loved one. Have a blessed week further every one.
Photo is of the chocolate brownies my sis and I made.

Wow...that is something. Here is something I must share...every time I get up from my bed ..I rush to dad's bed to see if he is ok...and focus on seeing his heart beat..then relax. Even when he is taking cat nap. Dad is almost 83! It can be really tense...so yeah..I feel blessed when he is around every birthday. :)

The brownies look pretty decadent. I'm just wondering whether that should be our next dessert too!

Glad this year was much more of a celebration for you. Mom's can do so many things and play so many roles for the family, but no one can replace Mom. Hope you all enjoyed yourselves and those brownies look yummy!

I've only just got into brownies. They are an American import I think, and I try to resist such things. They did look like chocolate cake that hadn't risen. However, since trying one I am a convert and enjoy them very much as a treat. Yours sound and look delicious. I hope you all enjoyed them. Your mum is fortunate to have such loving daughters.

I remember when your mom was in the hospital and doing so poorly. Indeed, it's a blessed miracle that she is home and doing so well, not to mention celebrating your sister's birthday!
Happy belated birthday to your sister!!!!!
Save me a brownie. I'm coming over right now! lol

yum, i just love your brownies, and they are not so brown, or dark brown unlike here where the brownies are about nearing black already. the frosting looks good too.
i hope your mother will have a better life ahead. i understand she is sick? does she receive oxygen therapy always, or intermittently?

@ridingbet , yes she was a smoker, then stopped, but then she got a bad cold and because her lungs were already weak she got pneumonia and things got very bad and she had to have a pipe inserted in her trachea. We are very lucky to have her with us today.
