Happy Friday, and Shabbat shalom to all who celebrate! Here's another song on my list of favorites that have the word "before" or "after" in the title. Todays' song is no surprise whatsoever, just a question of where it would show up. Here it is. #4: Walkin' After Midnight - Patsy Cline Any argument? Didn't think so. So Picky Wedia says that Don Hecht first offered this song to Kay Starr (of "Rock and Roll Waltz" fame), and her label (Capitol) turned it down. Then Patsy Cline wasn't all that fond of it, but agreed to go ahead and record it. Smart move on her part. It was a hit, won her the Arthur Godfrey Talent Scouts show competition (for you kids, American Idol or America's Got Talent of the 50s), and set her on her way to a short but brilliant career. It's one of the songs you think of when you think of Patsy Cline. She did it twice, once with a country shuffle arrangement and once with a more "Nashville sound" approach with background vocals. You know which one I prefer. But any Patsy is good Patsy. Walkin' After Midnight Written by Don Hecht and Alan Block Recorded by Patsy Cline Released as a single, 1957 Maybe he's crying for me:
Walkin' After Midnight - Patsy Cline (Decca Records) 1957, 78 rpm! A Direct Recording! "Walkin' After Midnight" is a song written by Alan Block and Donn Hech...

I love, love, love Patsy. I didn't know she didn't want to do this one at first. I know she definitely didn't want to do "Crazy."

You pulled out the heavy hitter here! Like putting Babe Ruth in your lineup.
