Neighbour's envy, owner's pride

This Papaya tree belonged to our neigbours. I had clicked this photo a long time ago. I too have papayas but never the way this tree yielded. Have you been in a situation where you wished you had what the neighbours have or is it vice versa?

"Keeping up with the Joneses" is a human nature. On the positive side, it keeps us motivated to improve our lot in life. But envy can be destructive if not channeled properly.

@allknowing _If you had 1 million and your neighbor has 1.5 million chances are envy would be the result but if they have a 100 million you won't envy them because that is beyond your reach. Strange how envy works.

I suppose so, at a time in my life. But now I feel I have more than what I need.

Although this papaya tree has more fruits, but they are small. If they have less fruits and the fruits may be bigger. I prefer to the latter.

I learned to kill that feeling a long time ago except to use it as an inspiration to strive, I am always happy for neighbors or people who prosper in a good and legal way.

That neighbour I was referring to is not me (lol) As most of you know I have a garden full of fruit trees. Envy is normal as long as it does not turn into jealousy

I never felt envious of others' possessions. But I will strive hard to have my own instead.
