The electric company better not do anything I wouldn't do!

Our electric company put out a letter to all us neighbors the other day, that they would be cutting limbs etc, at the edges of our yards soon. They would cut anything that went 15 feet beyond a certain area , in other words, they are trying to protect the power lines. I don't think they will cut or trim anything in our yard because I don't think any of our trees or bushes are obstructing the power lines. They are here today and they are beginning to do their work. This happened 5 years ago, also, and they did trim one of our trees then. At the time, I go so scared they would cut the whole tree, I dashed out of the house and told them to only top it, which they did. One of the neighbors, had to really fight them to keep one of their trees. And another neighbor, got so ticked off because they cut one of his trees down when he was not at home and when he got back, it was down and he pitched a fit and complained about it.

When they redid our aparments 3 years ago, they also cut down all the trees that were near any apartments. We had one big tree right out back of the house that we.. more me.. were always scared would break during a storm and hit the house and we'd have to move. Lol. One neighbor took a huge fit about a tree thats not even infront of his own apartment but the person next to him.. so they left it. I wish they would have cut it though as its very close to their front door.

I do understand being scared if the tree is too close to the house or apartment. About 7 years ago, we had two Pine trees that were real near our house cut down by professional tree cutters. It was good we did that because they could have hit the house.

Some big trees in our area (planted by the town council) cause lots of problems to us, and so far, we can't wait for them to be removed. Your trees must be very beautiful?

We had this happen to us a few years ago. They came on our property with their trucks and ruined our grass with one of them. We called took pictures and complained and they came out and fixed what they did. We've had to tell them not to cut trees on our property also as they did one time before. Now we get notices for whenever they come on our road.

They cut back the trees under power lines here all the time. We don't have any trees under the power lines here, but it's a good thing to do.

this is kind of tricky. Was the tree on the land or near the highway?

On the land, but they say it was too near the power line.

the power companies 'f the right to do what the homeowners won't - keep their equipment 'n the neighborhoods safe.

I can understand the need to trim trees, they do it around regularly to prevent damage to houses, but that sounds like are trying to save themselves money in the future by getting rid of trees now
