Purple Haze...err, Hair

For whatever reason, earlier this evening, I remembered that I have a Photo Bucket account, and that I haven't used it in years. There are photo's in there that I had completely forgotten, and I need to add them to my Facebook. So I started looking through my Facebook albums for duplicates, when I came across this gem. This is me in Winter Park, Colorado, back in the late 1990's, in town for the old Fat Tire Classic, a weekend of mountain biking that raised money for the Colorado Chapter of the American Red Cross. Each year, our team (Team Freak, which explains teamfreak16 in case you were wondering,) rode in the event, and each year we all did something like dye our hair for it. One year, most of us went platinum blonde, for instance. In this photo, I went purple. My friend's wife dyed my hair white, then put temporary purple in. You can see in the picture that it was already starting to wash out (took about a week to wash completely out, but I kept the white for the summer.) This was my favorite Fat Tire Classic. Having done seven of them in a row, I was a VIP, as was another team member. She and I went to the Saturday night VIP party and drank more than our share of free Fat Tire beer (we pretty much cleaned them out,) before venturing out to the regular party, where a few of our non-drinking friends gave us each their allotted three free Fat Tires. (We rode really hard that day. We deserved several free beers, right? Right!) Anyway, back to the hair. I got like, a thousand compliments. I also discovered something. You want women to talk to you? Dye your hair purple. They'll talk to you! (Well, other than the Denver Broncos cheerleader that couldn't get away from my friend fast enough. But his hair was green, so make absolutely sure you go purple.) Now THAT was a fun weekend! Glad I still have the photo.
