Eating Organic doesn't mean it's always expensive!

Some say eating organic is expensive, but no, not always! Here's an example of an inexpensive pint of organic mint chip ice cream by Humboldt Creamy for only $1.99 at Trader Joe's. There are other flavors available too! On our weekly trip to Trader Joe's - my fiancé requested ice cream. I had to do a double take on the price because I was so shocked to see it being low considering it was organic! Much healthier than other brands. It was really tasty too. We will be back to try other flavors.

Organic produce in my country is usually more expensive than regular produce. In fact, most of the healthy foods and fruits are generally more expensive.

@infatuatedbby Perhaps. But there never seem to be discounts for organic produce where I live.

Yes, for the most part it is expensive but there are sales! Or, for new organic products they can have some promotion so you can try it before they raise the price!

Here it is much more expensive than the other products. I try and buy locally grown vegetables where only natural compost and pesticides are used, not always possible to do that .

Yes, don't get me wrong - organic products are much more expensive, but some products aren't (when on sale). Or new products will have a good deal before they raise the prices up. :)

Oh my gosh . . . I think it was last year that Trader Joes had organic ice cream (I can't remember if it was Humboldt, but it was a different packaging from this one) and it was very cheap. There were 4 flavors I heard and I missed out on getting 2 of them . . . all that was left were vanilla and chocolate for just a couple weeks that this brand/product existed at TJs. We are stocked up on ice cream, so I hadn't looked at the freezer section in a couple weeks . . . I will jump for joy if this is here at our locations too!

@infatuatedbby I try to get ice cream from TJs whenever possible. The health food places are expensive and the regular grocery stores carry the stuff with not-so-great ingredients . . . TJs is somewhere in the middle. I know one of the other flavors was strawberry (the cashier told me it was so good - the first flavor to sell out). Can't remember the other one. I'd totally try the mint chip and the coffee one. Yah, it was dirt cheap but I can only stock up so much ice cream at home . I think it was in the fall/winter - but I know it wasn't in the summer. I better check soon! Huge macarons . . . ok, I missed that one. They have a box of dinky ones with various flavors - I didn't care for them but the kids did.

@much2say We never stock up ice cream lol so it was a treat! I will definitely have to try more ~ totally dirt cheap and not bad either! I agree. I don't get why people go to Coldstones then just buying this LOL! The macarons were chocolate and bomb! I am so sad.... I don't like the freezer ones and they were pricey considering its frozen and not tasty!

I wonder if it's the same!! I have never really browsed the ice cream section here or frozen in general but my fiancé wanted some ice cream :) They had four total flavors I believe there is coffee chocolate vanilla and this! I didn't really look clearly but I looked at the price and was like whoa! Maybe seasonal Years ago they made bomb chocolate macarons for $3.99 you get like 6 huge ones they were soooooo good they got discontinued I was so sad

TJ's does have good prices on a number of items. Not everything there is a bargain, but if you know prices, you can make out pretty well there.

Humboldt Creamery went bankrupt 7 years ago, now they are back in business and they are probably trying to attract clients with low prices.

If I eat ice cream, I'm eating the real stuff. I have no problem not eating organic....especially ice cream. If it kills me that's ok, I'll go happy.

Shopping in general for food isn't expensive if you know what you are doing. Buying nonorganic foods can cost just as much if you don't know what you're doing and just grab random stuff like some people do. My friend has been shopping organic and all natural since she could work and buy her own food. While in college and buying only organic foods she only spent $32 and got enough food to make a different meal for each night for the month. I have never had organic ice cream before but I prefer sorbets because they normally have more flavor than regular ice cream. I like strong flavors and don't really care for the sweet taste. Lemon and raspberry are my favorite sorbets

I like adding two or three spoons of sorbet when I make smoothies, it gives the smoothies a wonderful flavor. :) Yes, if one knows how to shop well they can spend a reasonably price with buying organic.

I would love to buy more organic foods if the price was more affordable. It sucks that we have to pay more money to eat healthier. We should make it so that our junk food is horribly expensive, and our healthy foods affordable.

Yes! I usually do opt for organic when I can, but not always are they expensive either. For meats, chicken, fish - yes but sometimes there are sales.
