Hubby just ordered new toys

The first one ought to be useful as well as fun. Its a set of beepers- 3 total. Its a locator- each to be placed on something like your house key or your wallet or anything else you constantly lose. Perfect helper for hubby who can't see. Its only good for up to thirty feet so he plans to place three of them on a path that he uses the most in the winter. Meantime I'm sure he will have fun with the gizmos. Hubby gets around most of our three acres without too much of a hitch but still the sound locator will be entertaining. The other toy is a talking clock/pedometer. He has a phone but its visual to find out the time. The pedometer encourages activity and I'm glad of that cause hubby is for sure active, walking from his latest shed project and then to the water spigot to turn it on or off, down the driveway to feed the neighbor horse treats etc. etc. Plus it will speak out loud the time and if he wants it, set an alarm though we use the clock radio in the morning for that. New toys are always fun!

I bought my mom a talking clock when she started going blind. She loved it. I have it now (she passed 17 years ago). Still works. It has a regular alarm or you can set it to a rooster call. And I have a friend who could use a million of those beeper things because she's always misplacing things. Come to think of it, I think she got some a few years ago but lost them.

@BarBaraPrz The rooster call can be funny. Years ago we were in downtown Seattle and suddenly hubby's rooster went off- he must have hit it accidentally. Sure got some strange looks from the people near us.

Those sound like really handy items. I'm constantly losing my keys and sunglasses and a friend of mine loses his remote. So, where did he find those beepers?

Thanks, I'll check them out @sallypup just cuz I can see doesn't mean I always know where my keys are.

@rebelann The Braille Super Store. I agree. I can see when I have my glasses on but that doesn't help one bit if I get distracted and leave my keys in the wrong place.

How bad is his eyesight? I don't think my husband would be wandering around our place if he couldn't see, he would either fall in the pond or walk into a tree.

@AbbyGreenhill My hubby was accidentally kicked when he was 5. He has had no sight since then. He has gone to the university on his own- actually two- and gotten degrees from both. But this is a lifetime for him, not a new thing so when he is on our three acres, he has learned routes and when its too far, he put up a rope to guide him. He also does not just sit around- it wasn't me that constructed the gates or pounded fence posts and stretched wire or made sheds.

@sallypup Since he has been that way since 5 he has it under control. He probably has done more than most men with 20/20.

@AbbyGreenhill Agreed. He's out making a bench for the shed that he built. I'm so glad he finally got a power saw. He's been cutting boards with a little hand saw. He showed me how to work that power saw yesterday. The power! Scared me but also reminded me of a sewing machine. I'd be a goner on this property without hubby's help- not joking. I do not have the strength to pound metal fence posts into the ground.

@Tampa_girl7 There's a ball that has a beeper in it, too but its not good for our household. Our dogs would wreck it in no time.

@andriaperry Good question. Our phones are mobile but the simple gizmos not the smart phones. I don't think our phones have that capability or I could be too much of a dunce to know how to do it. I'm not great at technology stuff.

It is always so much fun getting to play with the new "toys" like these. I have thought about the locator myself. Let us know how it works out for you guys.
