One of my friends called me and informed me that her PayPal account has been drained. In between sobbing, she told me that she received an email that an amount has been charged to her PayPal account. When she logged in, she found that her account has already a negative balance. I asked her if she logged in through the email that she received and told me she wasn't sure. I told her, that she should only log in directly and not through the links in email messages. It was a very disappointing experience for her since she was only starting online. I told her to be very careful especially when it comes to her PayPal and other payment processors. Did you ever experience any problem with your PayPal account? What security measures do you apply to safeguard your account?

I think your friend was being hacked. The best thing to do is to change the password of the primary email account and the same thing in Paypal account.

I am sure her account was hacked and probably that was because she opened the account using the link in her email. Although I am not sure because she could not tell what happened. Thank you for dropping by.

I already told her to call PayPal about it. I haven't heard from her for a while so I could not check. Thank you for dropping by.

Oh so sorry. We should be very careful about these links. We never open those links which takes us to the account. Hope that's not a big amount. Is there any way ,to deal with it. I mean can she write to PayPal about the issue or what ever happened. I am sure there will be some solution. I never had such problem.

Yes, I already told her to email PayPal about her concern. Whenever I notice some malicious activities, I would automatically change my PayPal email and would remove the current email I have in PayPal. Thank you for dropping by.

That's good to know. There are just some people who are using their skills in taking other people's hard earned money. So we better be careful at all times. Thank you for dropping by.

I have very little left in the account but I can't understand how someone else can access the account. We should be careful and not get carried away with phishing emails - siva

That's good to know. I haven't encountered such problem too. But I already received a phishing email so I can tell the difference from the real email from PayPal. But even so, I don't enter the site through any other links aside from going directly from the address bar. Thank you for dropping by.
