Welcome Stephen!

The third time is a charm, as they say. Today I thought I'd give the third and final Honda dealer in town (technically in town -- it's really in southern Indiana) a chance. And, as with the other two, it was almost a disaster. Everything was hunky-dory until I brought the car over (I deliberately parked it in a doctor's office nearby and walked to the dealership [quick aside: shortly after I drove my car to the dealership from where I'd parked it there was a fiery two-car collision that took out a telephone pole and the dealer's electricity right in front of where I'd originally parked!]), and all of the sudden again we jump from an under-$300 payment to over-$400. I told them to give me my keys, I was leaving. Suddenly, in the bizarre configuration of no A/C and no lights yet the radio, computer, and financial officer's lights working amid the power failure brought on by the wreck, the payment dropped like the Cincinnati Reds' chances of making the playoffs anytime before 2050. A couple of hours later I left the dealership with a 2017 Honda HR-V. (That's a CR-V for a single person. Less room than the CR-V, but what do I need a short minivan for?) My brother and sister-in-law love it. (My sister-in-law has back issues similar to mine, only much worse [compounded by knee problems as well, plus arthritis], and she was so happy that it's easy to get into.) My sole knock on Civics is that they sit so, so, so low to the ground that it's impossible for anyone with knee, back, or leg issues (who's not a midget) to get in and out of it repeatedly. My aching back following the Ohio road trip screamed, "You really need something that sits higher." And now I do. This evening, when I was configuring my phone with the Bluetooth in the car, my iPod was playing. Neil Sedaka's beautiful "Stephen," a tribute to Stephen Foster, came on the iPod, and I decided that's what I'd name the car. Welcome, Stephen! I pray for many years of great adventures ahead!! Here's the Sedaka song:
