So, you think you've finally caught up with all those debts, right?
You've made that last payment on all those special gifts you gave to family and friends, right?
Well, start counting, you've got 155 days til Christmas.
Soooo, whatcha gonna get me?

@rebelann I agree. The best gift is being together and celebrate with those that really matter to us.

Now that's a really kool gift.
I'm not good a crafts but it is a lot smarter to make gifts than to buy them, time is valuable too.

It's a shame that everyone expects gifts when it would be so much better if they just wanted your company.

Now would be a good time to call all family and friends to let them know you're not going to give gifts but that you'll invite them over for wonderful company and really good food and drink. You'd be surprised just how well that is received.
A few years ago I told mine that I would give them my time, some actually asked me to go shopping with them, apparently they think I have good taste and I keep them from spending too much.

Oh I like what you added @garymarsh6 then it becomes a test to see who'll break first and those who do will have to put the $100 in a tin to be raffled to those who did not. You know, we could really make Christmas fun again.

@rebelann What a brilliant idea. In fact I have just sort of done the same thing for a couple of weeks away. I am organising a big family picnic. I think it is far more sensible to do something like that. Getting gifts you do not really want or need. It is much nicer to reward people with some delicious food, delightful company and to have a great time together. Real family time!
PS Ban phones and introduce a $100 fine if anyone dare touches one or updates faceache etc.

Very true, thankfully I told all my friends a couple of years ago that my gift to them would be my time. I couldn't believe it when 1 asked that I help her shop for gifts for her kids, I'll do the same this year if she'd like but this time it'll be easier because her oldest just gets gift cards.

Funny but I've been thinking of Christmas and how I should start my shopping now so that I'm not hit with a huge expense in 155 days! You'll just have to be surprised when you open your gift

Maybe tell your family and friends that your gift will be to spend quality time with them or perhaps do some chore for them instead of spending money. Oh, a virtual hug will do just fine
