Is “The Twilight Zone” theme the most iconic and familiar of all time? Even if you never have seen or heard of “The Twilight Zones,” you recognize the “do do do do do” which has passed into popular culture as synonymous as nuts or being out there. Created and introduced by Rod Serling who wrote many episodes, “The Twilight Zone” easily ranks among the top 10 of favorite classic TV shoes. Its enduring popularity has never waned. The theme was composed by Bernard Herrmann, one of Hollywood’s greatest and most influential composers. His scores range from “Citizen Kane” to “Taxi Driver.” Herrmann was Hitchcock’s favorite and scored something scary you may be familiar with: “Psycho.”

@JohnRoberts -- I don't know, later in life there was enough of him to make two or three.

I don't need to listen to this theme to already hear it in my head. I watched it as a kid until there was an episode so scary it kept me awake all night, afraid to go to sleep. I haven't watched anything scary since. I never did see Psycho.

You should see Psycho. It is a classic. Tame by today's standards.

@JohnRoberts No thanks. The wax figures in the basement was enough for me. I don't think I would be able to handle psycho. You can call me a wimp. I won't mind.

I find myself thinking of the Twilight Zone theme when anything strange happems to me or I end up talking with anyone out of touch with reality which seem to be frightfully often nowadays

I agree that The Twilight Zone theme is one of the most iconic. I know a lot of people who hum it whenever something weird happens.

I figured you'd have Twilight Zone in there for theme songs. Us fanatics of the series give you a thumbs up! Rod Serling wrote some great sci-fi.
