~Bad Timing For A Joke~

So my husband and I were at the gas station when his cousin pulled behind us. My husband wanted his cousin's number again so he said to call me so we had it. His cousin almost hit video call instead of just call. I made a joke and said don't video call me I look awful! (He was standing right there so obviously it was a joke!) My husband got annoyed and thought I was hitting on his cousin! Seriously? Maybe it was a bad time for a joke since tension is thick right now with everything going on but honestly I have NO interest in anyone else! Wow, I won't ever joke with his cousin again and I think I might sleep on the couch tonight...

You should feel free to joke with whoever you want. Your husband needs to grow up.

@NJChicaa At times, I agree. It was clearly a joke since we were standing in front of each other so he knew how I looked! Tension is high right now...

Sometimes we project onto others when we are down or troubled by something. I would not read to much into this anger. If he continues to be upset with you talk it out and clear the air.

@TiarasOceanView Yes, he's been on edge all day today. I think when he's working he doesn't have to think so much about the situation so it helps. Bet he will be glad to go back to work tomorrow, especially now!

@LadyDuck My husband isn't the jealous type which is why his reaction surprised me so much. I think it's just all the stress this month.

Really? Lol! Men get jealous so easily and for no valid reason. My husband gets more upset with men who he believes ogle or leer at me. His words. lol

@DianneN Lol, yeah. Any other time that joke would not have bothered him but I think it was the timing of everything. I don't need to joke until this month is over! Lol.

@LovingMyBabies I'm sorry. I hate when that happens -- you try to joke to lighten the mood and it goes over badly. Hopefully he's calmed down some by now.

When you are stressed your sense of humor seems to be the first thing you lose. You two will work it out. I believe he doesn't really believe that you were hitting on his cousin.. I would be angry though if my husband had reacted that way too.

@LovingMyBabies I think we all fail sometimes at lightening things up. At least you gave it a try. Glad you two are ok now with each other.

@toniganzon Yes my husband and his cousin were standing by me-so obviously his cousin already knew what I looked like yesterday. Therefore I was just kidding. We are having a horrible month actually.

I guess it is normal joke. But yes sometimes others may not found it as normal as we. Even I have faced such situation many times, and yes it is kind of awkward.

I mean, I would've made that joke to a girlfriend, or even a stranger! I don't see a flirtatious bone in that at all! It probably is, like you mentioned the tension being thick, something else completely that is bothering him and it set him off wrong. I think we are all guilty of doing that from time to time if we have anything at all seething under the skin. Just takes one thing completely unrelated to set it off. I'd just try to shake it off and don't let it get to you or stop you from joking with ANYONE. He'll come around.

@sarahworksathome Yeah, no I meant no harm in it at all. Any other time my husband wouldn't have given that a second thought. But since we are about to be homeless I shouldn't have joked like that I suppose. This has been a terrible month for our family. I was trying to lighten the mood but it just caused an unnecessary argument.
