The Ticks Are Bad This Year

I don't know if it's because of the mild winter we had or because of all the rain, but the ticks are really bad this year. I have to check the dog daily and have been finding a few ticks on me (yikes) especially after doing yard work. They are nasty little bloodsuckers that carry serious diseases. I hate them. I spread some diatomaceous earth around the perimeters of my property but being a wooded area, it's pretty impossible to get rid of them. I wish snakes ate ticks because there's been plenty of those around too. Staying inside more this summer :(( Do you see ticks where you are? Snakes? Here's a song that has nothing to do with ticks except that I want them gone. -
I love this song to pieces =] NOTE~~ at the very end of this video, during the credits, it says the person who made the video was AmutoForever123. that was m...

Ha yes the song goes with it Suzie No well I am urban so no ticks around these apartments, but I don't get much exposure. That must be very miserable with snakes and ticks. I know that earth stuff you mentioned..had to use it once when I lived in Kansas for chiggers though.

It works well for many things. Hopefully it will keep the ticks at bay.

Ticks, yes - back when I had a pet dog. Snakes, not so much. Unless, I count the backstabbers here in the office , then yeah, I encounter snakes on a daily basis.

We are surrounded by woods and have noticed more nasty snakes than ever before. I had a tick on me already. I check the cat after our walks for ticks, too. Lyme disease is no fun.

No it isn't. Cats are usually pretty good at getting rid of their own ticks but it's good to check. Dogs, of course.....

@suziecat7 We've found tick on the cat's eyelid, if that's what it's called. Our dog had a deer tick with a red circle around it. Off to the vet he went - immediately! Dogs, of course...... are another story.

@DianneN - We can't be too careful - they don't take long to cause disease.

I haven't seen a snake in years and I don't thing there are any ticks but I don't know what they look like. They may not like the cold.

No, they don't like the cold and a frost will kill them off.

@suziecat7 Then, I will never complain about frost again.

The lack of cold kept them breeding longer. There is a new tick-borne virus this year that no cure or treatment has been discovered. Snakes? Oh, yeah. But they aren't allowed in our churches.

We are near wooded areas where deer live, so we have ticks, we also have snakes and plenty of mosquitoes. I hate summer.

They say it is due to the mild winter that fleas and ticks are so bad. So far none of us, including the dog, have had a tick.

I haven't seen any ticks around our area. And I check the dogs for fleas even though they get the flea pill 3 or 4 times a month when it's hot outside.

Being tickless is a good thing. My dog gets flea prevention but it doesn't work on ticks.

No ticks here but I am sure they probably exist somewhere in Southern California. Mosquitoes are more prevalent.

The mosquitoes haven't been so bad but I'm rarely out in the evenings when they seem to congregate.
