Brushing my teeth with athlete's foot cream

As you know, my sick mind goes in many strange directions. This morning, I stumbled into the bathroom and then decided it was time to brush my teeth. I reached for my Colgate tooth paste and was about to put it on my brush when I realized I was holding a tube of athlete's foot cream. That got me to thinking about what would happen if I actually brushed my teeth with athlete's foot cream. Babies get thrush, and thrush is treated with anti-fungal creams. When I stumbled back to my desk, I Googled "babies thrush treatment" and found that most common anti-fungals can be used to treat thrush, though certain ones are preferred. If you were somewhere where you couldn't get to a store, and your baby had bad thrush, would you be so bold as to put a little athlete's foot medicine on her tongue? It might or might not work, but it sounds like it wouldn't be dangerous.

Move those items away from where your hand reaches to. My x brother in law used Ben Gay on his teeth. I was happy.

Yuk! I remember that many decades ago, my grandmother thought that a hair creme I had was toothpaste and she actually placed it in her mouth before noticing. Your cream is worse!!!

I think a hair cream could taste pretty nasty.

@marguicha I wonder how long it took to get the sensation out of her mouth. I'm tempted to try bit of athlete's foot cream, just to see what it tastes like. Heck, I've eaten horse cookies, horse feed, etc.

@TheHorse I use toilet bowl cleaner to cut through the calcium build-up. Wise to stop the bengay abuse!

@ElusiveButterfly Yep, it works in my tub as well as my toilet. I have not and will not try it for self-abuse.

I look at it the other way around. Some people don't realize the many uses for things around their house! For example, toilet cleaner works great in my bath tub. I will never again use Ben Gay for self-abuse, though.

You are a pervert...real pervert...nothing that can be ingested...smh. I know that toothpaste can be used for burns...but other than that...multiple usage of athlete's foot cream..I don't know.

Good information for those with babies. Glad you didn't actually start brushing your teeth with that cream. I was always sleepy in the early morning I had to get ready to go to high school. One morning I took a mouthful of nail polish remover instead of mouth wash. Luckily I spit it all out and spent a half hour rinsing my mouth

When my babies showed any sign of illness, I called their pediatrician immediately, and he saw them immediately. So, no, and yuk!

You would have immediately noticed that the taste was wrong. For oral thrush an old home remedy was vinegar and baking soda and this is something that works.

NOOOO! I will now look up a natural growing plant to treat a babies mouth and since I have many books on wild growing plants I could still look it up without the internet. The problem is the baby has a high yeast content its body so the way, without looking it up, would be to make sure no sugars were consumed to start with.

All kinds of people with weakened immune systems get thrush. They used to use Jimson Violet for it. I would read the label of the antifungal carefully first. Either one of those cures is less expensive than some of the oral antifungals they give.

At least, you won't have fungus on your teeth and gums. Make sure to brush your tongue, also. I would not use it on a baby unless I asked a doctor, first.

I once sprayed shaving foam under my armpit thinking it was deodorant. Personally I wouldn't risk putting athlete's foot cream on a baby's tongue. I suspect somewhere on the package it might contain some sort of warning along the lines of 'for external use only'. Maybe strengths and/or active ingredients differ for use on babies!
