This country was torn apart once Donald Trump was elected to be the President Of The United States. He has supporters that will give their life for him, while there is opposing forces that will do anything to get him out of office. He has been in office a little less than 7 months and it seems to me on my end that his glass house is about to come crumbling down. I support him in some aspects like his role on VA healthcare but I despise him when he says no matter what we need to cut SNAP benefits to those who are less fortunate. If I remember correctly there was suppose to be a bill that would require people who receive government to undergo drug tests and if they do not pass them then they cannot get the assistance they supposedly need. Is that wrong? I personally am one of the people who needs government assistance because I can barely scrape by to get my rent paid being that I am on SSI/SSDI. People who mooch off the government are despicable! What are your thoughts on this situation? I am dying to know!

My two cents is simple. We need to change things badly in this country. Bernie Sanders is the one that the DNC should have backed and he would have won. Things would be much different now if that were true. Look, I am no fan of orange face. I know for a fact he is a liar and a schemer. Has been his entire life. Living here in NYC I have lived through and seen many things he did here. None of which were wonderful. He always had dealings with mafia, whether it be italian mob or russian mod. That is nothing new. He lied to the people that voted him in. They seemed t have eaten it all up and some small percentage of them actually still believe is going to fix thing. I feel bad for those people. This country is in trouble, has been ever since Nixon. It has just hit a point where we have a complete lying moron as president. And that could be the glue that can undo this country. Sad when you think about it. But as they say, trump is not the problem but the symptom of what is happening now. The republican party is largely to blame for this. As is the democratic party. It is not time for us true americans to fight back against the establishment. Any cuts they make will devastate millions of people. I agree. But if that happens, the republicans will most likely lose seats in the senate and the house on the next election cycle. Then things could have a chance of bouncing back. America has always been great. What hasn't been is the parties and the politicians.

Here in Canada, we have a very different health care system. I never could understand how the American system funtions. One thing that I do know is that I am so sick of Trump, he is a disgrace, an absolute disgrace to your country.

Ironically I have duel citizenship between Canada and the USA. My mother was Canadian when she gave birth to me and my father was American. I use to pride myself in saying I was American but now as Donald Trump being our president I hold my head down in shame. I feel like we are regressing in evolution as a society! I just don't understand how in our right minds people elected him? I would have voted for Obama for a THIRD TERM!

@MelA38 An interesting note on the way DT was elected. Technically, "The People" did not elect DT President, the Electors from the states where he won the popular vote did. He is one of the few Presidents we have ever had who did not win a majority of the popular vote. Neither DT nor HC won a majority of the popular vote. Numerically, both had millions more people vote against them than for them. DT has never had the support of the majority of voters in the US. He has no mandate to govern. And every time he opens his mouth or pulls out his phone, he alienates more Americans. Now he is surrounding himself with fellow NYers of dubious ethical and moral character and will continue to do so until, indeed, his glass house comes crashing down. @CoralLevang - my two pfennigs worth.

They would not only give their lives for him, they'd take lives if he asked them to. Including his if he doesn't do what he promised. They are a dangerous lot. So is he. But, the room's walls are closing in around him and soon, hopefully, he will be crushed into oblivion.

Ah, I liked neither candidate. I think one solution might be - don't let stuff the government pays for on behalf of the less fortunate - get charged at the maximum price just because the government is paying for it. You know? Should be a competitive market price that gets billed to uncle Sam.
