While at the hair dressers.............

While at the hairdressers many want a head and neck massage. They also go for a hair wash. One needs to be extremely careful how this is handled as it involves the neck which has nerves that need a delicate touch. Bad handling could lead to paralysis. With saloons mushrooming everywhere there is no guarantee there are experts in there. Do you have this treatment while at the hairdressers. What has been your experience?. The link below has more information
An untrained hand on your neck can cause a lot of damage and even result in paralysis.

I can think of a dozen reasons why I do my own hair instead of going to a salon. Risk of injury is certainly one of them, and the cost, of course. My main reason for DIY hair, though, is that I think I do it better. Second to that is the gossip.

Wow. I've never heard about this. That would make anyone think twice about requesting for a neck massage, for sure.

Not twice but they should think many times before going for it.

So am I. I sometimes get tempted to go for a massage but i am not confident of those around me.

I hate those basins... at one time, they used to be comfortable, but not any more. So... the faster they can wash my hair, the better.

I do get a scalp massage at the hairdresser, but that's all they are allowed to do. I go to a spa for massages where they are all professionally trained at a school. My nail technician gives back and shoulder massages while my nails are drying, but never touches my neck or head.

My hairdresser is marvelous at hair washing and scalp massaging. She doesn't do any neck massage though

I never had a head or neck massage but I do know my neck feels very uncomfortable bent backward over a sink. One reason why I prefer to shampoo at home where I hold my head forward.

I see no reason why one should go there to have their hair washed.
