It may be scorching hot in Dallas but how about the US Military in the East?

The longitude and latitude of Dallas is roughly the same as parts of the Middle East where American troops are stationed. I bet it is even hotter over there where the fighting is going on than here so does that make me feel any cooler? No.

That would be my wish as well. I have a friend who was in Operation Desert Storm in the US Navy and another friend who fought in the Vietnam War. Both came home physically well but emotionally they both had to deal with the after effects of the heavy stress that came with those experiences in enemy territory and even though they both served a generation apart, they were both none the worse for the wear and it did change them. You can never go back to being a civilian once you have been in the military especially during a major war. I can only imagine what they went through. I was never in the military but I have friends who were and for that reason I am appreciative of all they have gone through for the security of our nation.

@lookatdesktop My parent's pastor was a veteran from the Vietnam war. What a shame, he got shot in the back and sent home. Physically he healed up fine, but emotionally he never recovered. Last year, he passed away at 70 years old.

Any weather is terrible, for our men and women stationed in the Middle East:. We lost a close friend, Pete, in the Gulf War:(

That is sad news indeed. The Gulf War was not just any type of war. It was a terrible war. Below is a link for others who may read this post that goes into some detail about the Gulf War:
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search This article is about the war in 1990–1991. For other wars of that name, see Persian Gulf War (disambiguation). "Desert Storm" and "Operation Desert Storm" redirect here. For other uses, see

Some. I feel somewhat cooler but I once rode my bike when it was 108 and even cut a lawn when it was 110 in the afternoon. I got a bit of heat exhaustion though. It was so hot that I got a chill from it. I know. It could have killed me but I was in my early 20s at the time and ignorant of the dangers of Texas heat waves.

The only way that might make you feel cooler is if you consider the fact that in the Middle East the desert is all around and those guys have to be in uniform which you can be in shorts and T-shirts.

I have been informed at to this fact. It is just about as hot as it can get and the heat, in and of itself presents a basic challenge of human survival and military skill sets.
