Well, I am legal for another year, but that's 40 bucks I will never get back. of course the real pain will be when I pay my insurance which is due now as well. I will pay it probably the first week of next month. How much is vehicle registration in your state just for curiousity?

These are the times when I'm glad I no longer have a car. I can't remember what I used to spend, although it was usually a lot of money since I almost always had a newer car.

It's high in California of course. Depends on vehicle age. More government extortion.

I am not sure age of the vehicle has anything to do with it here..but I am not feeling so bad about it now.

@snowy22315 In California, the older the vehicle the less registration cost.

@JohnRoberts I really haven't asked other people what they are paying for their registration, but if your vehicle is older you do pay less in personal property taxes here.

Registration is $95 in NJ and our insurance is about $1500 for 2 cars for full coverage. We live in the most densely populated state in the country so we have the highest risk for accidents.

Those are a few of the reasons we left NJ and moved south!

Having a car and a license can be expensive. As much as I may like to get a car, there are times when I'm happy I don't have one.

Ours is $101, but Illinois is a state run by crooks, so that amount goes into the pockets of some of them. My husband has a specialty plate, duh, and that is $108.
