He made me cry

While I was at work today I got a phone call that made me cry. I started to tear up on the phone, and when I hung up I had to go in another room for a few minutes until I stopped crying. Today was my last day at my old job. On Monday I start a new job.. Technically I'm unemployed right now, LOL. I'm "in between jobs". That's fun to say! Anyway, there are a lot of customers that I really like at my old job, so I made sure to let most of them know that I'd be leaving. Today a lady came in, and she's one that I like fairly well and I feel like she and her husband really like me. So I told her it was my last day, and she wished me luck on my new job. A little while later her husband called and asked to speak to me. He told me that she had told him that I was leaving and he wanted to call to say goodbye, and wish me luck. He told me that he appreciated my service and that I was always so polite and professional towards them. He also said if I ever needed a reference he'd be happy to give me one. It touched me so much to hear that. Part of why I'm leaving is that I felt very unappreciated at my job by my supervisors and coworkers.. so to know that I made a difference to the customers means so much to me. Has anyone ever made you cry in a good way?

As much as we feel so liberated to finally leave a place, it's still emotional to go . . . we also say goodbye to the good folks that had made it all worth being there. I had an experience like that - not with work - but with skating when I switched coaches.

It did not really feel liberating. Maybe it will once I start the new job, if I like it better. Really it felt cumbersome to try to continue there. It's felt like that for months, but that is because of my coworkers and supervisors. I did like quite a few of the customers.

It made me sad to be leaving some of the customers.. I will miss a few of them. Then again there's a bunch I won't miss at all!

It is exciting that you have a new job, and touching that your customers will miss you. I cannot really think of a time I teared up, but I have had people I worked for, special needs clients and nursing home residents that really touched my heart.

I'm sure with as closely as you work with people, it's easy to feel attached to them and vice versa. At my job I only see them for a few minutes once a week or so.

Yes I have cried in a good way. BUT WOW!! What a great impact you made on the customers. To have someone call like that shows what a great person you are. Good luck on the new job and I hope that they appreciate what a worker they are getting!

Thank you. A lot of people wished me luck and told me they were sad I was leaving. One lady said she cried after she went home that day. I was very loved by my customers... just not so much by my coworkers.. LOL

What a beautiful thing to say to you. I can see why you cried. I never worked in the public mush so I never experienced something like that, Laughter, a lot of it will have tears running down my face.
