The Trump Train

The funny thing is I am not American and yet I know more news there than in my own country. Plus, American political satirists are very entertaining to watch. I do not really know what exactly is happening to their people and government except from the news and comedy shows from there. What is common from them is, much discimination and hatred among immigrants has become more rampant and worse than ever before. I don't think I consider myself bias, because again, I am not American. It just amazes me that despite Trump being obviously stupid, histrionic and narcissistic (he has proven all these in more than one occassion), many still support and believe him. He objectifies women and disrespects them, and has no care whatsoever whether what he does is legal or not, as long as he gets what he wants. He is a man child. I mean, come on! Isn't America supposed to be the land of the free? Yet the minds of the people have still to be broken free of the chains if hatred, sarcasm, and racism. America is known to be the country that leads nations in the direction of progress. Right now though, they are going backwards.

Is there a special reason why you don't mention your country on your account page? It would make your post more understandable.

@JeeyanDee That's fine with me if you write about your pets or what you had for breakfast but not if you begin your post with, "I am not American."

@MALUSE Yes, I did begin it that way but what I said after still counts right? I said I know more of their news compared to mine because I watch it more. I am sorry if I have offended you in some ways. I have nothing against the American people rather I have so much respect for them. It is Trump I have a problem with. I am just voicing out my opinion, I do think I have a right to do that, American or not. I do not want to talk about simple things like my pets, I want to discuss issues.

Maybe I will soon. It is just that I feel like we all automatically label each other because of our nationalities, conciously or otherwise. I want to break out if that stereotyping. My country though has nothing to do with how I think, and never have I ever pretended that my government is perfect, rather the opposite.

Trump is not very different than the populists we have in Europe, europhobic or not : Farage in UK, Puigdemont in Spain, Le Pen in France, and several others All these people are xenophobic and more or less stupid, but they have a lot of supporters whatever they do or tell. The main difference is that Trump has been elected.

@JeeyanDee It is not a question of era, the first populist recorded in France was in the 1880's, it is a crisis of our democracies : many people are unsatisfied with their life and their politicians, and these populist candidates are offering them the moon. Even if many of their electors know that it will not happen, they want to give them a chance and will support them until they will realize that they cannot fulfil their commitments. Trump is a disaster for the image of his country in the world, but there are still 30% of Americans who do not realize it...

@topffer Thank you for that information! I was supposed to put 1880s, not 1960s because of the Jim Crows laws. Remember segregation? It was during that time. I was just pointing out that we should go forward not backward, and no more of that racism and discrimination of women. It was done in the past, but there is no excuse for us doing it again today because we now know better than our predecessors.

I very much agree with you. What amazes me though is where do they get all that support despite the obvious stupidity in what they preach? We are in 2017 already, not 1960s.

We have an option though to speak out our views and opinions about it or shut up and just hope for it to pass.

I'm reading this with a 'pinch of salt.' Yeah, the Trump Train is not very smooth, and it's going to be like this for the next four years. But the train ride has been very challenging and exciting, honestly. I think the tens of millions in the Trump Train are enjoying the scenery and getting on board making a great difference on every train station. The metaphor is fun. America is thankful that Hillary isn't the president driving the USA. Just MHO. :-)

No, Josephus, "America" is not thankful, far from it. Donald Trump's approval rating is the lowest of any POTUS at this point since polling began, in the low to mid thirties in most polls. Just "MHO" but I'm here and see what's happening and hear what ordinary Americans are saying so it's a well-informed opinion.

@everwonderwhy Sorry, you're not here and you're not an American and you don't have a clue what "America" is thankful for. Far more of us voted Hillary than for that incompetent moron so that alone tells you the majority of us are NOT thankful she's not our President. It's beginning to be almost unanimous that he won't be in office by the end of four years so you'd better get a grip.

@anniepa I'll repeat: America is thankful that Hillary is not their president. These hateful anti-Trump you are talking about do need to get to grips with their loss. They are also welcome to present suggestions (lawful and legal) on how to improve US lives, liberty, justice, national security and protection. Noise and violent breaking of private business property and shutting down conservative free speech in the garb of violent "free speech" isn't one of them. So, any suggestion on improving US economy,US national security and protection? I'm not talking about free-stuff for illegal aliens in the country. Otherwise, join the fun and exciting Trump Train.

Yes and it is really sad that as president, he is representing America and because of that, many people think Americans are like him. Despite this though, I still believe that America is a great country with amazibg people

@dollaboy @JeeyanDee Thank you both for that, America has always been a great country and I still believe most of us are good and decent people. I understand how people from other countries may have their doubts about that when they see the disgraceful way in which our so-called POTUS conducts himself.
