Cutting air conditioning bills!

Japan
July 30, 2017 11:43pm CST
I was pleased and a bit surprised today to get my electric bill. It was about 30% less than this time last year. How did I do that? 1. At night, opened windows and used the exhaust fan. 2. In the morning before it got hot I closed all the windows and drapes (the drapes are those insulated kind.) 3. I get out of the house in the hottest part of the day. There is a large Aeon mall near me, so I go there to walk. I get exercise, and I use their air conditioning. There you are! How do you keep your electric bill down in the summer?

It's summer here all the time but we only use the AC when the heat becomes really unbearable. Usually opening the windows and balcony door works just fine for us.

I visited Malaysia once in Kuala Lumpur, in March. It was very pleasant.

A friend offered me a product, it is a sticker actually. According to her, it can help lower the electric consumption. I bought several pieces and tried it on my appliances. I am still waiting for the result. My electric bill usually arrives on the first day of the month, so I can check whether this sticker is effective or not.

What kind of sticker? I can't imagine what good a sticker would do. I'd love to hear about it.

@petatonicsca The name is Surich Scalar Sticker. According to her, it has a negative ion which helps to regulate the flow of electricity. Thus, using this sticker on appliances can help reduce the electric consumption. I already saw a lot of proofs but I wanted to verify it so I have to wait for my electric bill.

Keep all windows open and only use the AC for the hottest hour of the day. Have a fan going only in the room that I am in.

If we need the a/c on, we put it on. Sometimes we have to pay the price if we want comfort.

We did not install air conditioning. The nights are never too hot here and during the day a fan is enough to cool the room where we work. I also close all the windows, shutters and drapes, this helps a lot to keep the house cool.

I received my bill today too. It's about $3 less so I guess that's still a good thing.

That's great how your efforts are reflected nicely on the bill...

@petatonicsca They keep raising the rate every few months down here... Just when we thought we finally found a way to get it down, it goes back up again as the rate increases. Usage may be the same or even lower than previous year, but the $ is always higher anyway...

Unfortunately we have to use air conditioning here and sometimes our bills are ridiculous.
