Arrangements have been made for our little ice princess to compete in a figure skating competition in Michigan, representing the state of New York. It will be televised on a cable network.
The owner of her camp in Maine will drive her to the airport in Portland, Maine.
A Delta airline hostess will fly with her to New York City, and escort her to a secure room, where she will meet her mommy and daddy.
The three of them will fly to Detroit, Michigan, rent a car, and drive to Grand Rapids where the competition will be held.
Our little ice princess will practice, eat, sleep, and practice again. August sixth is the date of her program, after which she will return to camp and all her friends.
The photo above was taken at Lake Placid, NY, former site of the Olympics. The state of New York chose her to represent them based on her performances last winter and the previous winter.
Her coach at camp made arrangements to have a special evening for all her friends and fellow campers to watch her performance.

@HazySue What type of dancing did your girls do? The ice princess does tap dancing and ballet in off Broadway productions. She only took tap to improve her rhythm for ice skating and was "discovered". She had to send in a head shot, resume, and bring in sheet music to sing with piano accompaniment. She can't sing her way out of a paper bag, but she got the part. lol
I have two boys. It was running to different sports. I miss those days though.

Thank you!!! I thought the viewing at camp is an awesome touch. However, she skates with some girls there who are good friends. One girl from Florida is very jealous. My granddaughter caught up to this girl's skill level during the year with her new coaches. Needless to say, that girl is very upset. She is older, too, and thank goodness she is in a different bunk.

@YrNemo My poor son. Lol! Who else? We always offer to pay, but he refuses our help. Isn't that an outrageous amount for a growing child? He shoulders all the sports, camps, music, tap dancing lessons, etc. for both his daughter and son.

No, actually she flew to camp last year and this year on a camp chartered jet alone. Her parents put her on the plane both times, and the camp bus te the plane. It's a 90 minute flight. She's traveled many times on jets with her parents.

You are so sweet to say that, Erly! She is representing the entire state of New York. There are many wonderful skaters representing their states. We would love to see her win a medal, but she is very new to this type of competition. Many of the girls are older, but have the same skill level.

Oh, no! I'm too nervous and couldn't eat all day. My son told us not to bother coming out, because we'd never see her. Practice, practice, dinner, to bed. Repeat. I've been to many of her competitions and know the drill, although this will be a biggie.
