After spending a few days in agony, my husband went to the doctors yesterday. Being he had the gout years ago he knew what it was and that it would not get better on its own. He could barely walk so I knew he was in a lot of pain. He got very strong medicine and he won't be walking around for a few days. My daughter and grandson are flying in Friday night so I hope he recovers soon. Did you ever have gout?

A week ago my oncoogist told me to have a pill of Allopurinol every day as my uric acid was too high. I haven´t bought it and was planning to skip it until I read your post. Thanks for reminding me.

@marguicha Medicine is so expensive. A person cannot afford to be sick.

You are better to be safe than sorry. He got a prescription that cost $180 but because of our insurance he paid less than $50.

My grown son had a touch of it a good few years ago..yes it is not fun. I hope your husband heals quickly from it. I had never heard of it til my son got it. We were homeless at the time and eating only canned foods.

@ramapo17 Yes I understand. Here they have a fast train directly to and from the airport and it only costs under $10. Wish they had something like that there.

@TiarasOceanView Nothing comes this way and a cab would be very expensive if they even come this far.

I don't have it but as a doctor I meet many people suffering from gout. It really hampers normal life.

No, I haven't but back when I was a student and living with another nursing student, I saw her print outs of gout as she was doing her report. So I have some idea how painful it is
