Marsha's Log: Composition Notebook Covers

Last October at the quilt retreat hosted by the quilt shop one of the ladies brought in all kinds of items for gift making suggestions.
One of those was the composition notebook covers. I took the pattern, and it took me until this last retreat to finally try to make one. It was easy peasy!
My plan is to make them for my Christmas gifts this year. I only bought one notebook to start to see if I could make it alright, but I'm soon heading out to buy stacks of them while they are on the back to school sales for just 50 cents each!
I think I will also add on 2 little pockets on the front of each one I make for gifts. A pen and a pencil pocket and then also put a pen and a pencil in each one that I give away.
I'm not sure how the guys will react to covered notebooks, but hopefully I have some "guy" fabrics in my stash, or can find some cheap.

Covered notebooks sounds nice and personal. Maybe there will be a fabric sale at some point.

Very nice and a good idea. You can get these notebooks at dollar tree at least the ones by us carry them. I hope everyone that gets one will like them as well.

Yes, they do have them but I went to Walmart and got a big pile of them today while they are 50 cents before school starts.

When I did Bible Quiz, years ago, I made covers for all the kids' books on the team. I like your composition book. I made a cover for a paperback Bible for Bob and put a pencil pocket on the spine. I also added a stitched on ribbon for a book mark. The quiz books were plaid in keeping with McPherson and Scottish. Bob's cover is a print with Eagles. For guys I have seen fishing themes, flannel plaid, eagles, horses, other western stuff. I bet you have something.

It looks like a nice idea. The pockets would be great. What about corduroy for the guys?

looks really good. I could have used these when I went to school. Those paper book covers were always tearing and mom always had to buy more.

that's cool. I have been wanting a new cover for my Kindle case. I have a Kindle case that looks like faux leather, but it's coming off in pieces.
