They are both arthropods, and if people can eat crabs and lobsters, why not scorpions... Ah well, I had to opine on something...cow vigilantes in my country won't let me talk about beef, and Marijuana merchants won't allow me to say let it be legalized... This is India...we are demoncrazitactic country...did I spell it right? Who cares...myLot is not going to throw me out for my spellings...

Arthropods comes from Greek and means " invertebrate animal " so to the list you can also add velvet worms, butterflies and many others. We not always eat all the animals under a category... humans are mammals, like goats, sheep, dolphins and the animals you cannot mention.

@vandana7 Well, the fact that you and me do not eat scorpions does not mean that in other countries it is the same. Scorpion kebabs are offered as a street food in China.

A few scorpions are edible, but would you offer a scorpion lollipop ?
These sugar-free Scorpion Lollipops are available in four fine flavors. One of our classic items, they are an unusual way to expand your palette!

@vandana7 Speaking of arthropods, I am a bit picky and I eat only crustaceans, you will have to find somebody else.

Koreans, Chinese and some tribals eat scorpions besides others ...it is funny that a handful of cow vigilanties are able to create such a ruckus given the fact that India is one of the top beef exporting nations in the world

It is lynching...that is so objectionable. They are willing to protect cows, and forgot Nirbhaya. That is when lynching was needed. Manav seva hi madhav seva hai..(serving human being is like serving god)...what happened to that...and if they want to protect cows, there are other ways. Collect monies and buy out the cows. It is ridiculous that they are attacking the poor. Beef is not that cheap that poor can afford it in our country. These lynching folks are just using some target to let out their adrenaline pressure. The anger is at something else..groan.

@vandana7 I don't think anybody is protecting cows, all this show is on pretext of "found cow skin/suspected beef with him (her?)" As for buying out cows... I differ. Those who really are protecting are doing so by trying to save the cows being smuggled. This is not at all about cows bought and butchered. It's about cows being stolen and smuggled, illegally. And by armed thieves... But somehow, that is a routine job accepted by all. Modifying a bit what @Sreekala said.... "If a thief steals (and smuggles and butchers) a cow no one is there to show any sympathy but they will shout on the rights of the smugglers"... Beef is not cheap enough for our poor to afford? Well, I really don't have any clue, but what I have heard from proponents of beef has been "...but then how would the poor get their protein if beef is banned?" It must be dirt cheap, right? And @kiran8, beef is a misleading term. India is a major exporter of buffalo meat, which is called beef outside. We in India use the word beef for cow-meat specifically.

@vandana7 Here who cares about human beings? If you talk about dogs and cows then you will be in news headlines, that is our democracy. If a dog bites a child pathetically no one is there to show sympathy but they will shout on the rights of dog. I am not against the animals, yes they also deserve love, care and protection. Same time humans also have the same rights.

The exact problem is, when politicians want to take advantage on it for their own benefits. Otherwise, there is no issues among people. They still love each other, care each other. But someone there to brain wash common people and lead in a wrong way, then issues will arise.

Exactly...people have no issues, it is only periodically fueled by politicians and their karyakartas (assistants)

I suppose even fishes have parts that are poisonous...we do remove them, isn't it? There is a Japanese delicacy rare fish that requires a lot of skill to remove the poisonous part. People die to eat that fish..literally.

Imagine ..Donald Trump decided to visit you, and the whole town decided to go on strike, and there was nothing to offer him, except scorpions...and as a hostess, you obviously have to eat some...such crisis situations can occur...we must all be prepared for those.

Yes...now you are talking. If Chinese can eat them, why not others..there must be some taste and they must be quite safe because we don't hear Chinese dying of scorpion food poisoning. lol
