Keeping a backup phone

One of my colleagues had an issue with his mobile phone. He sent it to the shop to be repaired. In the meantime, he bought a used mobile phone.
Thinking it over, I do have a backup mobile phone which is my old phone which is still usable. Do you guys keep backup mobile phones?
I choose to do so to avoid the unnecessary purchase of mobile phones until the right model comes along.

Yes, I have an old phone which I can use. We really need to have a back for an emergency purpose.

I have a back up phone handy just in case something happens to my current phone. It has all the important numbers that I need.

As a matter of fact I do have a back up old cell phone that I continue to charge. When I used it it used up all the battery on one phone conversation. I also have my Smart phone which I use all the time and turn off when do not use and my home phone. So, I hope I have the bases covered. I just get messages and once in a blue moon use my home phone and when i get messages I call on my cell phone to save on my home phone bill.

Yes it is a good idea to have a backup phone ! One time I learned my lesson, my phone quit working, and all my phone numbers were locked up in it , I had no way of calling anyone, I didn't have any phone numbers memorized, so then I decided to have another phone with all my phone numbers and addresses in it in case that ever happened again !
