Finally married/been busy

I have kind of disappeared for a bit. I finally got married to the man I've been with for the last 8 and a half years. We got married on the third and today we are celebrating with some family. I'm just making a quick stop in before I have to start getting ready. We had a quick courthouse wedding and I have to say the judge was a really nice guy with a great sense of humor, even though my 6 year old has a better signature than he does lol. There was a couple who got married right before us and until that day we had never seen them before and now we see them everywhere, we've all had a good laugh over it. The only people there were my mom, my sister, and my brother who has been staying with my sister. My poor brother felt really odd being there, he ran into his probation officer and the judge that married us was the same one he had for his DUI case. The judge has been nothing but nice to my brother though. He gave my brother a break when he didn't have to and probably even shouldn't have but he was super understanding. Although note to anyone who is planning on getting married make sure you take your rings out of the packaging first. We made the mistake of not doing that and had the awkward moment of unwrapping our rings in the middle of the ceremony but the judge joked it off. It was a quiet day and since it was just a courthouse wedding we were able to get my last name changed that day, it was actually way more painless than I thought it would be. I was able to get my ID changed rather quickly and I was also able to change it on my social security card relatively quickly, or as quickly as you can for the social security office. I'm just waiting for it in the mail. My son stole the show as he always does. He was afraid of the judge but the judge was super nice and understanding towards him. My son stood up by his dad and my sister stood by my son to make my son feel better and my brother recorded the whole thing on my sister's phone. The only issue I have is I think my one sister is annoyed that I didn't invite her but I invited my one sister and brother, my one brother is staying with my sister which is why he was there and my sister was the only one who really expressed interest in being there and my other sister had to work. I didn't say she couldn't come. I just don't want family drama but of course, there always has to be some, I don't get why people can't all get along. With there being 7 of us I find we deal with feuds regularly. No one can agree on anything or they feel offended over something. I do sometimes get irritated when I'm looked over because I'm seen as a child but I don't make it into a big thing, I eventually get over it. It seems my siblings can hold grudges or make it into something it isn't. Apart from the mishap with one of my sisters everything has been pretty good. My son starts first grade in a couple weeks and we managed to get all of his back to school shopping done. We have had some more family issues but so far things are going ok and hopefully, things continue to get better. My family doesn't need to lose anyone else. I almost lost my ring yesterday (already I know) but I found it rather quickly. My ring is a bit big because I wear a half size and we got cheap rings so they didn't have sizes so I got the next size up and my ring wants to slip off, we bought some ring snuggies since that incident as my husband (that sounds so weird) freaked out when I told him I lost it but I found it like 3 minutes later so he was adamant we had to go buy the ring snuggies to help me keep it on. It actually helps quite a bit. The only time it wants to come off now is when I wash my hands but that's not really a big deal. I think that's pretty much the gist of what's been going on here, I hope everyone else is well and I hope to eventually get back to posting and replying at least a little more frequently. I just haven't had the time or energy lately. Talk to you all again soon.

Sounds like you have been busy. Congratulations on getting married. I have never had anything but court marriages. No weddings.

Thank you, I definitely have been. Big weddings aren't for everyone, they definitely aren't for me.

@sissy15 .....I've heard of people doing their weddings more for their families than for themselves and that is sad.

@celticeagle It is, and had I had a real wedding it would have been for them and not for me and I wanted to do it my way so I did. If I decide I want something a little bigger later I can always renew my vows but if I do it will be for me and not for them.

Ha! Thanks, looking forward to it! I'll make sure to renew my vows and invite you just so you can pelt potatoes. Make sure you aim them at Cory's head lol.

Lady congratulations to you and your hubby! So delighted to read this post. I was wondering where you disappeared to. I read the post about the reception and I was puzzled for a minute. Then scanned your discussions and found this one.

Thank you! Yeah, I have had a lot going on besides getting married but that seems to be the big news, especially with our families. I think everyone thought we'd never get married. I'm glad to have the wedding part out of the way I hate being the center of attention.
