Ordering Out For Chinese Food

I decided since my grandson is over at his dad's for a few days my daughter and I would order some Chinese food. We love it and don't get it often since my grandson doesn't care for it that much.
So, I go to call the number for the Golden Star up on Orchard. Have to find the number on their outdated info online. I call and get a recording. Oh, dear. Have they changed or gone out of business? No! Just our new phone system has changed. Have to dial the area code on everything although the new area code won't be used until next month.
Finally get to the restaurant. The young man who answers is very much Chinese and it hard to understand him and to make what I want known to him. He explains that they have changed some things and the price is about $5 or $6 more than it was a couple years ago.
I give him my card and he reads it back to me. Hope it's right cause I can't really understand him. And he can't pronounce my name. I spell it all out for him. Then he insists that I get the name of the taxi driver because they have actually had people come in their saying they are picking up a order for the wife and it hasn't been true. Can you imagine? Very unfair.
So now we are waiting for our dinner.

We don't get it often. It is a ways from us and we have no transportation.

@celticeagle I don't like Chinese food but my better half picks it up occasionally. I always add veggies to it.

@celticeagle I am glad that you enjoyed your meal. We have a pretty good Chinese place over by my sons. I always end up taking a box of leftovers home.

It hasn't been until recently. Some people are not very nice and take food that isn't theirs.

@celticeagle I guess it is important for the owner to make sure you get what you've ordered. Sorry things like this are happening around you now. We don't have deliveries so there isn't this type of problem here for us.

That's weird about the taxi driver. Did you need a taxi to get there and is it a take out place rather than a dine in restaurant? I don't quite get what the taxi driver has to do with it. Is he concerned that the taxi driver would pick up your food without your permission?
At least it was still open and you could enjoy the food. I hope it wasn't too expensive and tasted good since you'd waited so long to have some.
After reading Sharon's response, I'm guessing that you ordered online and the taxi driver will be picking up your food?

It's a dine in restaurant but we order out because we have no transportation to get there. I ordered by phone and had the taxi driver pick it up and deliver it to us.

Chinese food is my favorite, I will go for it most any time. However I agree with you that some of the Chinese people are difficult to understand.
