Day 6 Ecclesiastes 6 Ecclesiastes 6:1 There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men: 2 A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honor, so that he wants nothing for his soul of all that he desires, yet God gives him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eats it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease. 3 If a man beget a hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years be many, and his soul be not filled with good, and also that he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he. 4 For he comes in with vanity, and departs in darkness, and his name shall be covered with darkness. 5 Moreover he hath not seen the sun, nor known anything: this hath more rest than the other. 6 Yea, though he live a thousand years twice told, yet hath he seen no good: do not all go to one place? 7 All the labor of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled. 8 For what hath the wise more than the fool? What hath the poor, that knows to walk before the living? 9 Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this is also vanity and vexation of spirit. 10 That which hath been is named already, and it is known that it is man: neither may he contend with him that is mightier than he. 11 Seeing there be many things that increase vanity, what is man the better? 12 For who knows what is good for man in this life, all the days of his vain life which he spends as a shadow? For who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun? Have you ever assessed your life? What were your conclusions? Did you find it lacking or fulfilled? Solomon assessed his life. He looked at the riches, wealth, and honor of his life, the fact he wanted for nothing, but had everything he desired and found it was evil, a great disease. Why would he, who had everything, feel like his life wasn’t worth anything? It isn’t what you have that makes your life fulfilled. Your life is fulfilled when you give your life to God. Some of the richest people were the ones who had nothing but faith in God to take care of them. Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Elijah went to a widow and asked for food, and she told him she was preparing the last she had for her son and her and then they would die. However, Elijah told her to give her something first, and when she did, God provided her food until the famine was over. When you trust God to give you what you need, and not rely on your own ability to do so, you will find a greater blessing and more fulfillment on your life, than all the wealth of the world can provide. Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (KJV) It is his riches, not yours from which God will supply your needs. When you know the source of your riches, wealth, and honor, you will be more fulfilled than the person who has everything the world can offer, but hasn’t the one thing that matters most to his life – faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Let’s pray: Father, help me not look on what I don’t have, but rely on you to provide me with everything I need for body and soul. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. That's wonderful. Proverbs 3:5-6 should be one of your verses as well as Phil. 4:19

@MsBooklover It took me a long time to come to grips with that concept - that God was that interested in ME. I have trust issues, so that's a good scripture for me.

@just4him And when I look at those scriptures, I think....even my life? My path? My needs? This is because everything looks bigger than life. Yet, God is bigger than everything. We just have to acknowledge it.

Timely reading. We are to cast our burdens unto the LORD, for He cares for us in all the work our hands find to do. Thank you!

I have seen many wealthy unhappy people who are probably thinking that all their wealth will be left for someone else to enjoy when they die. And one can die at anytime.
