Another music series, another theme. In this case songs with a direction in the title. As always, we start with #10: "East Bound and Down" by Jerry Reed. Jerry Reed performed "East Bound and Down" for the movie Smokey and the Bandit, a film in which he costarred with Burt Reynolds. Reed cowrote the tune with Dick Feller, who wrote "Some Days are Diamonds (Some Days are Stone.)" Both songs won BMI Awards. "East Bound and Down" reached #2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart, spending a total of 16 weeks on that chart. (It also reached #2 on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks chart. This is a fun tune. The attached video contains footage from Smokey and the Bandit. Jerry Reed made it into the Country Music Hall of Fame this year. He deserved the honor while still living, but better late than never. (Info verified by Wikipedia)
Music video I made for one of my favorite songs of my all-time favorite movie "Smokey and the Bandit"!

Smokey and the Bandit. Remember when they made just simple unpretentious fun movies like that?

Great movie! If memory serves me Jackie Gleason played the sheriff. And everyone wanted CB's "Good Buddy." P.S. Like the song too. DB

@teamfreak16 Yeah - it was cool! I used to volunteer at this cultural center. What it was, was actually an old highschool. But they would host artists, have concerts etc. Usually local talent - but sometimes bigger names. Enter Jerry Reed... I volunteered that concert and got to watch from the back row. He took requests. One little kid shouted out "Amos Moses" and he kidded around saying something like "You don't think I would come all this way and not play Amos Moses, did you?" lol. He did not socialize before or after the gig, he stayed in his trailer. But one of his staff did take an LP of mine for him to sign. I didn't realize he had passed. (something like 9 years ago.) Sad.
