We just got back from camping. We went up to Old Forge, NY in the Adirondack mountains. We spent the weekend camping in a tent, and yesterday we went to Enchanted Forest Water Safari which is a nice little water park up there. Our weekend was pretty nasty! Friday night it rained so bad, all of our stuff got soaked. The rain started without warning while we were still setting up, and all our stuff was laid out everywhere.. and the rain never stopped! So our stuff, blankets, air mattresses, inside our tent.. everything, dripping wet! And we had to sleep like that because there was nothing we could do about it.. Saturday, the day we planned to spend at the water park, was freezing! It was barely above 60 degrees! We went to the water park anyway, and yes we went on all the water rides. Actually that part turned out pretty good.. the park was pretty slow due to the weather, so we didn't wait in a single line all day, and we got to do all the rides we wanted as much as we wanted. In fact, we left the park a little early because we'd done all we wanted to do.. and over all it was a great day even though we were really cold.. I had 2 little minor accidents. First one, I went down a water slide with the kids, and you're supposed to lie on your tummy on a pad. Well at the bottom of the slide my pad was gone (about a mile behind me) and I came out of my bathing suit and had been sliding on bare skin!! Luckily I could fix the suit mishap before anyone saw (at least I don't think anyone saw) but my girls are hurting something fierce! I bruised them pretty bad although I don't see any bruising.. Then I was going down another slide with my daughter. We were in a double tube and I was in the back. We hit a corner and the tube flipped us over while we were on the slide! My daughter managed to hang on and right herself and finished the ride on the tube... but I came barrelling behind her with no tube. I didn't get hurt, although I did bang my elbow... The kids think my little mishaps were hysterical and they've been laughing all weekend about it. We'll never forget our miserable, rainy, cold, wet camping weekend where mom fell off the tube at the water park! Other than that we did have a good weekend.. we had fun despite the weather and mishaps, and are happy to be home where it's warm and dry!
