Spirit Airlines - ever flown with them?

Hey all and Happy Sunday! Even though it feels like I just got back from my vacation (one week ago now) I will be flying back out to Denver for a work conference in a few days for about 5 days! The conference itself will take up most of my time from 8 - 5pm but after that Ill be on my own. Which I am excited for to explore, read and chill in a hotel (I love hotels!)
Anyway, my work booked me a flight with Spirit Airlines. I have heard vague mixed reviews about this "budget" airline. The only weird thing Ive seen so far is very specific guidelines with carryon items.
What kind of experience do you have with Spirit Airlines? And whats your preferred airline?

I've never flown Spirit Airlines before, but I have a couple of friends who have flown Spirit. Mostly their reactions have been, "It's a budget airline, you get what you pay for." So pretty much, if you want all the bells and whistles, this is not the airline for you. But if you're looking for a no-frills airline, then this is the airline for you.
I typically fly Southwest or JetBlue. Have had nothing but positive experiences with both of those airlines.

@maezee The service is amazing with Southwest. The flight attendants are amazing, and always go out of their way to make sure customers have a great flight. I've seen dancing, singing, jokes and more from the flight attendants. They are definitely top-notch!

never heard of spirit airlines. i don't like flying anyway. but had to a few times. they are always fussy these days about carry ons but i can understand why

I've never flown on a commercial airline and have never heard of Spirit Airlines.
