~Funny Story From Years Ago~

Here's a funny story I was just reminded about. My husband and I were dating at the time. I was born and raised in NY and young at the time. Southern food was beyond my understanding at the time. My husband made some "grits" and asked if I wanted some. I said I have never had that before but okay. My husband said, how much do you want? I said I don't know 1 or 2? I thought my husband was going to die laughing when I said that! Now looking back I feel silly but I truly had no idea what it was and I do not like grits! Lol. For those who don't know what grits are...

Haha, that's funny. I've never had grits either but I always thought they were something similar to oatmeal.

@LovingMyBabies Maybe it's something you have to grow up eating in order to be able to appreciate it. LOL

Ha ha ha, it is similar with my husband and I. I was raised in the South and love grits. My husband was born in Pennsylvania and when he moved here to Georgia, he had never eaten grits. He eats them reluctantly when he is served them and he eats them in the wrong way. The proper way to eat them is with butter, salt and pepper and sometimes you can crush bacon up into it. But, my husband will always put honey on grits which is not the way to really eat it right.

@Leapea2417 Lol, I don't like them at all but my husband loves them! He eats them the way you described and he also puts cheese on top sometimes.

It would have been nice if you had added a photo. I (and certainly many other foreigners on this site as well) haven't got the foggiest idea what grits are. In fact, I've never seen or heard the term.

@MALUSE I did add a picture, it just took a few minutes to load. Grits look like sand, it's a southern food item.

One or two! Lol!!!! I had them for the first time when we went to New Orleans. I've had them instead of potatoes at breakfasts out. I'm not crazy about then, either.
