Good Afternoon, I Survived

I have no idea why but this occurs every now and then, its something that is scary because you never know when it`ll happen and it seems to happen when I am totally exhausted and have slipped into a deep sleep. Acid stomach. I woke at 4:30 am about to drown on stomach acid. I jumped up gasping for air and my throat was on fire. I opened the nightstand drawer and got two 150 mg. Zantacs and took those and off to the kitchen for the dill pickles and a slice of bread. I don`t know why but this combination has worked for me for years. I sat up half asleep, Tony was already awake, When my stomach settled I went back to bed but I did not sleep flat I piled pillows up so that I was sleeping setting up. Now I need to think about what I have been eating the past few days and stop any new stuff. I am thinking ot was the cream cheese because its rare I eat it. Do you have stomach acid problems?

@andriaperry A doctor once told me that that could be had if you had "helicobacter pilori" a bacteria that can be cured with antibiotics.

@marguicha I am sure it was just the cheese but I go for a regular check up in about a week so I will ask the doctor.

I was just feeling nauseated for weeks and I thought it was this water, may be, but I am sure this was the cream cheese.

I used to have those sneak attacks of acid on occasion, and they were getting more frequent. I have changed some things and find it helps. Personally, I will not take an anti cholinergic or proton pump inhibitor. . . I have lots of reasons why, but I am not a doctor. At one time I had it so bad that even drinking water sometimes gave me severe heartburn. A friend recommended Papaya. Papain from papaya, or bromelain from pineapple are the major ingredients in meat tenderizer. They are enzymes that help "digest" things. I still would get heartburn and/or reflux occasionally.I learned if I went to a buffet where I used to over eat to the point of discomfort, if I started my meal with a bowl of pineapple I did not get reflux. Usually when I combined fat and sugar too close to bed I had the experience you described. (Think a big serving of ice cream or buttery pancakes with maple syrup.) What you experienced was very scary. I do not know why mine has pretty well gone away, except I did lose weight, and I have cut back on carbs, and I have convinced hubby that a small serving of ice cream is more than plenty. I also read recently that taking melatonin at bedtime also reduces reflux. I think you are probably right, though. Your issue was cream cheese quite likely. Was this also after putting pepper jelly on a brick of it?

Im sorry this happens to you. I do have problems sometimes but not much. Now my husband it was really bad but seems to be getting better. I have him take an Acidophilus every morning when I take mine. He hardly has to take his meds anymore he said.

@andriaperry I hope it works for you like it does him. Oh just remembered my aunt who has health problems and acid reflex everyday has controlled hers with Aloe pills. I know a few others that have too.

Glad you were alright. I haven't had such problems in ages but boy do I hate when that happens. I guess with me it is usually if I overeat spicy food.

I will reflect on everything I ate at dinner, I should pin point the problem, I think it was the cream cheese.

I am so sorry to hear you are under the weather. I am lucky for now I don't get stomach aches unless I eat something that has cheese or milk in it. Then I am in real pain for hours on end. At times I have to go to the hospital for a shot to calm this down. I have been allergic to milk products since I was born. I am good at knowing what has something in it I can't eat. Take care and hope you feel better.

No. My husband has stomach acid problems. Do you sleep lying down flat or do you sleep at an angle? You know how in hospital beds you can move the bed up so you can sit up or lay the bed down so you can sleep flat? You need to sleep at angle. Don't ask me to explain the logic. All I know is if my husband falls off his pillow that keeps him propped at an angle while he's sleeping, he'll wake up the same way you woke up. That's all I know.

It must be some kind of food causing it. Maybe if you take antacid tablets for some days it will calm your stomach down.

Hey, Niume friend! Yes, I have acid reflux, and I do believe that is all it could be. I would get it checked out though. Nice to see you here!
