Who needs friends?

I responded to a discussion from someone who was upset about losing a friend. I responded in a positive way and was told there was no need for any more friends. I responded again saying there are lots of friends on Mylot and again even more forcefully was the reply there was no need or want for friends. This does not make sense to me...what about you?

I don't have a lot of friends either, mostly because I don't go out much and because I am insecure in crowds.

I don't have much friends and I'm really not bothered by it. Those few friends I have are always there when I need them and vice versa. As for the poster awhile ago who said he doesn't need a friend, I'm pretty sure he does. He's just probably upset with something right now. Let's hope he feels calmer soon.

This is true, however this poster has a rather mercurial personality since now they have had friends for months

The poster is a she as it is me. And I didn't say I didn't need friends, I said I didn't need or want new ones. I'm good with who I have.

the person you spoke to is grieving and angry at life in general. Sometimes the stream of condolances can upset the person receiving them - best to hold back for a while and let them ride through their sorrow - don't take their rejection of your support personally

This is crazy. Friends are there for us and we are there for them. I guess they were so hut by the loss of this friend they are afraid to find another. Maybe it was their only friend and now they feel alone. I don't know. Hard to say.

The person clarified the issue saying she did not want or need any new friends. So I guess I can oblige her there.

Thanks for writing about me . Sorry I don't need or want new friends. Its my choice. And I have reasons for it. As others here, and in my real life, understand. Doesn't mean I was being "forceful" with my comments cause I wasn't. They're just comments responding back to you. Nothing more or less.

I have plenty of friends. Some of my many friends only contact me (and vice versa) once every ten years or so (mutual agreement) .

It's good to make friends and why not we can share our happiness and sorrows with them
