First, isn't Spunky funny? He was my sweet big boy, a Maine Coon mix, and he liked to play with water if it was in a tub like in the photo or if it trickled from a faucet. Well, the Roto Rooter man fixed the spigot and gave me a discount, or so he said. Given the nature of the work required which included replacing the whole spigot and to do that he had to saw a section of the skirting in order to get to the problem I thought his quote of $400 was to be expected but he did give me a discount of $100. It's expensive for me but I suppose that's what people charge for those kinds of jobs anymore ...... besides, when was the last time you heard of a cheap plumber? And, if you have, did he do a good job? So, that's fixed, now to get it paid off and hope I can get the project I hoped to do done next year.

Thank you, it looks like it will last quite a few years. Thank you, Spunky lived with me for 17 years and I still miss him.

Thank you @just4him he did live a long life but I would have been happier if he'd lived longer.

Everything is expensive. That's one reason I like living in an apartment. Of course we pay for it with the cost of rent.

Yes, you are right but personally I prefer not to have to follow a landlords rules which almost always means no pets, I'd hate that.

@rebelann We have no particular rules that I know of and we can have pets. We had two dogs that eventually had to be put down.We decided then we wouldn't have anymore pets.

Spunky was such a silly kitty, he topped out at 21 pounds and was the families buddy, my pups just adored him.

Nice of him to give you a discount. Plumbing and electrical work are expensive these days. Here is to help you pay it off!

@rebelann I have been dealing with the kids all summer. The twins are a force to be reckoned with! I will be glad when school starts on the 28th.

such a cute picture! some carpenters and plumbers charge okay here, but then, you shell out a lot for the materials they need so the job still costs a lot in the end.

It was a lot of work but he did a good job so the price was reasonable considering. I just wish knew how to do that myself although I don't know if I would have had the strength.

@rebelann some jobs are just too big (or complicated) and if you can find a competent person who does good work, it's worth it.

He wasn't afraid of standing water as long as he could control how much of his paw went in the water but I know he would not have let me bath him.

Yes they are. Many dupe those of us who don't know any better by doing extra things that didn't need to be done which is what drives the price up. Thankfully this guy did only what he needed to, I was lucky.
