Got My New License Plate

Every ten years, we have to get a new license plate. I had no idea we had to do that, of course there's a fee for that too. And the fees for getting the tab and license renewal went up too I do believe. That seems to go up every year anyway. But it's done so I have a license for another four years.

We can keep our plates as long as we want. Every year we do have to pay for a sticker to go on the plate, which is what I believe you are referring to as the tab. I don't have to do it around my birthday because both of our vehicles are in both of our names, and they (luckily) put my husband's name first, so the ministry sends him the bills for the new stickers.

I know it is $101 in Illinois for that renewal, and we must do every year. IL is broke since politicians steal most of it.

At least, it's done and it's one less thing to worry about.

@Susan2015 Fees go up and then for the heck of it they raise taxes after 10 years.

A new license plate is all about forced collection of fees for the government. Another legal means of extorting money for something you don't need.

What happens if someone has a personalised licence plate? Such plates can be very expensive.

My license expires in December so I'll be making that trip to the DMV for a new one. These last four years seemed to fly by. At least I don't have to get a new license plate and only get an updated sticker every year

Well, here in Italy, it is not exactly so. A car license plate and registered, it remains until its demolition. However, every vehicle requires mandatory revision every 2 years!

@Susan2015 I don't know the last time Wisconsin changed their plates. Our licenses are good for 8 years and the registration every year.

@Susan2015 Sorry I did forget that we get a tab every year. I guess that I should of thought that you probably did the same thing. We just keep the same license plates unless they change that next.
