I have good news!

It has been a long while since I have been pleasantly surprised. I mean good things happen, but it usually isn't a total surprise. Well, I got a lovely surprise in my e-mail a few days ago. I won a $100 American Express gift card. I had answered a survey from a company I got a free sample from years ago. They sent a survey out, and said they would randomly select a winner for a $100 dollar American Express gift card. The survey literally took less than 30 seconds. I didn't think of it again until I got the e-mail telling me I won. I was planning on using it for groceries so I wouldn't have to worry about getting to the end of the month with little money left for the grocery store. Then, I realized I'd probably still be able to buy something fun for myself. It might not be much, but it would be something. A little while later I got an e-mail for a reminder that it is time for Annabelle's (my dog) annual exam, and her three year shots (my vet does take Am Ex). So my stomach kind of sank, knowing I would have to use the 100 dollars for that. I then told myself to stop that thought process. So, I can't use it for something fun. So what!? I was blessed to be provided for a way to take care of Annabelle, and I'm grateful I'll be able to afford it now. So I'm still excited! What would you do with a $100 dollar American Express gift card?

That's wonderful news! Congratulations, I'm so happy for you. If I won that, I don't know just what I'd do with it. I won a pretty zippered leather cellphone holder with a rose on it at work today, and I thought that I'd put it aside and ask our future daughter-in-law if she'd like it. I'm not used to having a girl in the family to spoil.

She'll love that. And hurray for adding another lady to the family. You needed a female ally.

Knowing that it will take care of Annabelle's heath is a wonderful way to spend your winnings. And who knows, there could very well be something left over! I'd give it to my husband . . . he works very hard and I'd want him to do something nice for himself with it!

Nice! I always wondered if they actually did send the prizes that they say they do. I know what you mean - sometimes it seems like there's always some extra bill, but I think it was like God taking care of you -- now you won't be out of pocket / too much so for the vet....

Wow! You are very lucky! Usually I don't earn much to finish a survey. That sounds so great that you earned $100 from it

Well that's great you have the money to pay for the dog! It seems everytime I get something extra, something else will pop up so the extra disappears quickly! If I had a little extra right now I'd spend it on some new shoes for work, and maybe a couple new outfits! I'm going to be on my feet a lot more at the new job as there are no chairs behind the teller line. My shoes aren't made for standing all day.. so I do have to go out this weekend and get new shoes.

Wow that's great! Congratulations! I also have a vet appointment coming up for my new kitten and the money would probably go there, so I wouldn't have to feel the pinch in my bank account!

Pets are worth it, but very expensive. I can't imagine my life without them though.

@AmbiePam Owning pets can be very costly these days. I did find a vet that discounts for people of low income, but even so, our last visit was pretty expensive! But I have noticed a huge change in my disposition since the kitten has been here. So while I may have saved his life, it seems that he's given me a whole new lease on life. And that's worth the price! (better than medicine!)

I wouldn't trust emails like that. But yay for you. I would use it for new fall / winter clothes, food, and a small trip to the zoo.

It included an affidavit to accept my prize, a number to call for verification, as well as a Twitter handle, a website, plus the company is well know. I once won a trip to Australia and New Zealand for the 2000 Olympics, as well as smaller prizes. I can tell between a hoax and the real thing.

@Courtlynn At least I don't have to pay taxes on this like I did the trip.
