Coming in at # 7 on my favorite Tropical Birds series, is one of the most famous of them all, the northern cardinal, it's the state bird of 7 different states. Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and, West Virginia, it likes woodlands, gardens, shrublands and, swamps, where it feeds on insects and, fruits mostly, the Cardinal doesn't get very big, only about 9 inches, they do have a foot long wingspan though and, make a very pretty song, mostly a loud clear whistle. Another interesting note is they mate for life and, stay together year round. Males also help with the baby birds and, building a nest. Some information verified at Wikipedia. Photo is from Pixabay free images, it's a male Northern Cardinal.

@TRBRocks420 Not as often as I like. I haven't seen any this year. But I usually do once or twice a summer.

Good choice, the cardinal was my fathers favorite. He had the entire hallmark plate collection and it is beautiful.
