Our library offers a silent potluck dinner every Tuesday where sign language is practiced. I plan to go soon. I am not sure at this point if I am going to be available on Tuesday but it is a monthly thing. I never had any formal sign language training, but I have taken like a community education course but I do know some signs and have a book. It would be fun to brush up..Last week when we were in DC there was a table of signers in front of us..Union Station in DC is not far from Galludet University the only college for the deaf in the U.S.

My husband and I do have a book about sign language. It does show quite a few words in sign language. It's something we wanted to really learn, but other things happened.

Many years ago I had a new puppy who had me up at all hours of the night - there was a show on TV where you could learn sign language, I really got into it and it was educational.....I don't remember any of it at this point that was in the early 80s.

Over the years, I have kept meaning to and have even borrowed library books to begin learning on my own. But, I never got around to it. However, now, my eyes are going on me. So, I am learning the read and write Braille first.
