I am a bit younger but I remember to have seen people victims of polio. It was a terrible disease, and the inventor of the vaccine would have deserved a Nobel prize : he did not patented it, telling that the patent was owned by people, to permit to other countries to develop the vaccine at low cost to eradicate this disease. Admirable.

Hello, I was concerned not seeing you around. West Germany joined (better was accepted in) NATO in 1955. I have also seen victims of polio, it was a terrible disease.

I believe that colour television was created in the late 1940s, although it may not have been commercially marketed until the 1950s.

@jstory07 My parents also had black and white television in the 1950s. Of course black and white television remained popular for many years after the introduction of colour.

I am sorry, but it is not correct that Germany joined NATO in 1954, West Germany joined NATO the 9th of May 1955.

@jstory07 I should, but I won't. A gal never tells her age, weight, or how much money she has in the bank. lol

@jstory07 I just finished looking at my year and it was too full of war news so I decided not to do it at this time.

I can only remember one person in the whole of the School that had contracted polio. She had to wear two calipers I think they call them at the time but she recovered somehow. She is about three years older than me.

@jstory07 She did but the treatment then was not what it is now and I forgot to mention another girl who contracted this in 1970 something and she got married and had four children. The other girl also had children none of them were affected by it.
